Sony Computer Entertainment CEO, explained in a round-table interview that the tiny streaming set is “technically” capable of supporting PS3 titles through the same cloud-based streaming that will bring PS3 titles to its successor. Find out if it true that PS Vita TV can support PS3 games here.
Since Sony acquired cloud-gaming company Gaikai, it hasn’t done anything with the technology at its disposal. However, this is set to change with the upcoming PlayStation Vita TV. According to Eurogamer, the PS Vita TV will be able to stream PlayStation 3 games to the home console version of the Vita by using Gaikai’s technology and infrastructure. The company revealed this during the ongoing Tokyo Game Show. However, Sony still hasn’t revealed when the PS Vita TV is making its way outside of Japan.

“We’d like to offer a variety of games because the fun of server-based services like Netflix is you just want to browse through,” Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida told Eurogamer. “Like movies, you can start to watch five minutes and if you’re bored you can move on to something else. [Also,] we have to make sure the games work through the internet. We have to go through certification for each title. So we’ll start with a selection and then work from there.”
